Position Description

Registered Nurse (RN) works an 8 hour shift with variable days off including weekends and holidays. Shifts available may be AM Shift 6:00am-2:30pm,  PM Shift 2:00pm-10:30pm and Overnight 10pm-6:15am.

Some of the job duties of an RN may include but are not limited to the following:

Assess, analyze, plan and provide direct care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation) in compliance with professional standards of quality care. Perform nursing procedures, including emergency care, within scope of practice.

Communicates and collaborates with physicians, nurses, administrators and other interdisciplinary treatment team members; receives and transcribes physician orders; reports and documents client's condition, care and treatments provided/nursing interventions implemented, and response to interventions.

Provides functional clinical supervision and guidance to the Licensed Practical Nurse and other unlicensed personnel(i.e., certified medication aides and direct support staff) in the provision of health care and nursing procedures, including administration of medication by the Licensed Practical Nurse and the Certified Medication Aide.

Actively engages in performance improvement activities at facility, department and unit levels, collects and reports data, and implements performance improvement measures. Participates in nursing peer review process.

Participates in interdisciplinary treatment teams, work groups, nursing service teams, and committees as assigned.

Attends seminars, conferences, and other training events to stay current in nursing practice standards and evidence based nursing care. Maintains current RN licensure, basic life support certification, and other mandatory continuing education activities. Completes Mandatory Reporter of Dependent Adult and Child Abuse training as required by Iowa Code.
